Teaching Philosophy
Everyone has the aptitude to learn and enjoy music. I strive to create a positive and encouraging environment for my students to set and achieve their musical goals.

Building Community
Music provides a unique opportunity to build community and connection. By developing listening and observation skills, my students learn to explore different sounds and cultures with openness instead of judgment. Each student is unique and brings their own story and ideas. I incorporate my students' interests to create meaningful and applicable learning experiences. I teach my students to approach new challenges with perseverance and self-discipline, skills they need both as musicians and members of their community.
Fostering Independence
I foster independence in my students by teaching them how to practice and reflect on their playing. We brainstorm musical ideas and mechanical solutions together with the goal of understanding and future application. To reach a high standard of musical excellence, I strive to create a positive and encouraging space for my students to ask questions, explore different types of music and sounds on their instruments, and communicate their ideas. I love sharing the joy of music and I seek to develop curiosity and a love of learning in my students.
